Innovating for Health: Meet the Winning Disruptors of the Hack54 Health Hack 2025 Hackathon
Accra, Ghana — We are happy to announce the monumental success and conclusion of #HealthHack 2025, the maiden edition of the Hack54 Hackathon Series. This transformative four-day event, organized in collaboration with thedsgnjunkies (The Design Junkies) and Socialite AF Ltd, successfully challenged young innovators to design groundbreaking, human-centered solutions for Ghana’s most pressing healthcare challenges.
Held under the theme “The Intersection of Design, Data, and Community in Ghana’s Healthcare Future,” the hackathon brought together multidisciplinary teams from top tertiary institutions, including Ashesi University, KNUST, University of Ghana, Legon, and UMaT. Participants worked intensively to develop practical, technology-driven Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), addressing issues from medication access and patient safety to disease prediction and clinical efficiency.
The realization of it’s mandate was secured through the crucial backing of our co-partners and sponsors — including the Ashesi Center for Entrepreneurship, Interaction Design Foundation, and CloudPlexo. Our shared vision, affirmed by their collective investment, dictates that bridging the health access gap requires dedicated capital deployment and robust private-public collaboration into African-led tech solutions.
Following a highly competitive pitch session, three standout teams were recognized for their transformative concepts:
Overall Winner (Best UX Solution & People’s Choice Award): NovaHQ
NovaHQ was celebrated for developing a digital health ID platform to keep and control medical health history and records securely.
Most Impactful Idea: PreaVita
PreaVita focused on an AI-powered disease outbreak prediction platform that leverages real-time health and environmental data to deliver early warnings and actionable insights for preventing waterborne disease crises in vulnerable communities.
Best Use of Technology: Medi-Fi
Medi-FI impressed the judges with it’s digital platform that helps patients instantly find prescribed medicines at verified pharmacies, discover safe AI-recommended alternatives, and access reliable drug information anytime, anywhere.
A Commitment to Incubation and Growth
For the winning teams, the hackathon is merely the first phase. The Alliance for Health Tech Africa and our partners are committing to a major post-hackathon initiative: the incubation of the top three teams. This will involve providing them with essential mentorship, technical resources, and access to strategic networks to refine their prototypes into scalable, real-world solutions. The winners will also receive opportunities to pitch their ideas on major innovation platforms, including Tech in Ghana, FiDCon, and other international showcases.
Hack54 solidifies Ghana’s position as a burgeoning hub for digital innovation, where ideas born from young talent have the potential to save lives across the continent.
